Sunday Isiyaku is Sightsavers Country Director for Nigeria and Ghana. He holds a PhD in Zoology with over twenty-five years’ experience as a research scientist. Sunday cut his teeth in as a research assistant in the WHO/TDR multi-country research on community-directed treatment with ivermectin from 1994-1996 and join Sightsavers in 1997 at a time the Onchocerciasis Control Programme was scaled-up in Nigeria with support of the African Programme on Onchocerciasis Control. Prior to joining Sightsavers, he worked as a Senior Research Officer at the Nigeria Institute for Trypanosomiasis and Onchocerciasis Research in Kaduna, Nigeria. He has extensive experienced in community-based programmes and has participated in several WHO/TDR community based operational research and co-authored several publications on Neglected Tropical Diseases. Sunday is also the Principal Investigator on the COUNTDOWN project in Nigeria.
